Arboreal Drakeling

A miniature sub-species of dragon, the Drakeling is well adapted to its forest habitat. During the warmer months, Drakeling's grow a tough membranous skin along their elongated forelimbs (a leftover trait from their airborne ancestors), which allows them to glide between trees. This however, is lost when they shed their skins for winter. The creature's bony head crest is equally suited for both dominance displays and chipping away tree bark to get at insect prey which lives beneath.

This started out as a simple sketch back when i was practicing drawing on a tablet. It was probably my favourite of the sketches I did so I decided to clean it up and paint it. Probably the best thing I've done in photoshop thus far and it'll definitely be going in my portfolio. Textures were almost all done with photoshop brushes I made, plus a few coming from photos of things from around my house.
