N0uveau Zer0

Wanted to have a go at trying an art nouveau style piece and thought I'd go with a Borderlands theme. I chose to go with Zer0 as I felt the interesting shapes of his helmet would suit the style and also because he's my fave. It was looking a little plain though and the whole holographic display dealie he has in his helmet wasn't fitting the style, so I went and jammed a skull in there. It's not so much to suggest he's human under the helmet (anatomically the skull size I went with doesn't even fit properly), but I felt it'd suit him as a mercenary/death bringer or whatever. The background was very much inspired by the work of Olly Moss, who y'all should check out.

The entire thing was done in Photoshop/Illustrator using the pen tool, line tool, live trace and live paint. Extra texture was added using a grunge brush provided by ImagineFX magazine and an overlay of some red paper which I scanned.
